In 1999 Anil Bembey bought 870 Butler Avenue to call it home. It was a small equestrian ranchette a total of 3.34 Acres. It had a home, a barn, 3 beautiful Black Oaks and not much else.
In 2000 he planted the 2.5 Acre Organic Vineyard with 2300 Vines all 667 Clone from Dijon France, over 3309 Rootstock. In 2001 he took down the horse barn and built the 3 car garage with workshop and office. The home was remodeled, and the entire area around the home was landscaped and was put on a drip and timer.
2003 brought our first harvest and much joy Anil made 52 cases of Wine in his workshop, with one Neutral and one American Oak Barrel, credit to good friend Kerri Damskey outstanding Wine Maker and Consultant- this brilliant wine won two Gold Medals at the Sonoma Harvest Fair Home Winemaking Contest in 2004 and 2205. It also won the Silver Medal at the CAL Expo in 2004, Yay ! we were on the road to great things.
in 2004 We went commercial and made 450 cases of Premium Pinot Noir at the Russian River Winery, and when it was time to bottle it Anil and already opened the award winning " Kabab and Curry House " on 4th. Street an opulent Indian restaurant with hand made decor from India . This restaurant featured a ": Double Gold " wine list with 76 wines from all over the world, food and wine pairings and 2nd and only temperature controlled wine room in Santa Rosa at that time.
The ABC however, put a damper on things and said that due to the full bar license ownership Anil could not bottle the wine under his name, weird, but its called the Tied House Rule. So the wine was sold to Bill Smith of WH Smith wines and bottled under his label- happily it scored 90 points by the Wine Spectator.

real estate company
In the following years the fruit was sold to upscale wineries like Nicholson Ranch, WH Smith, Lynmar, J Vineyards and Flowers. In 2008 Anil partnered up with the father and daughter team of Jerry and Judy Hyman and formed AJ Vines. The " Palate " Label was then launched, this label did well for 3 years and then was retired in 2010 when Jerry and Judy moved to Tacoma, WA.
sadly, the famous " Kabab and Curry House" was closed due to a failed economy and Anil being too busy with other projects.
The home was fully remodeled that year with new paint, an impressive floor tile job, granite counter tops, and wood paneling.
in 2016 among other things the free standing Artists Studio was rebuilt inside out with insulation and an Attic in place
In 2013 Anil made wine again at Bin to Bottle In Napa and this wine was very well received and sold in Bulk at Top Dollar. it was rated among the top 5 wines at Bin to Bottle that year.
Since then fruit has been sold to J Vineyards, Jeff Hill, Flowers and Macilroy Family wines. 2016 Wine Gets a Vineyard Designation " Bembey Vineyards " see photo in inset. 2017 will get the same designation from Will Mcilroy, this wine is excellent and will be on the market after October 2017. The 2018 Harvest was the 2nd highest yield on record and we got 10.25 Tons. We can make 615-625 cases of wine with this fruit.
Vineyard was certified Organic in 7/2018, and the property now ready for a fresh perspective, and handing over of the flag to a new Winemaker and Wine Lover. This is beautiful place to raise a family and have a wonderful Wine Country Lifestyle. we hope you agree and we would love to hear from you.
Some things were meant to be, and by the grace of God will flourish forever.
We are all mortal until the first kiss, and the second glass of wine.... Cheers!
